The future of transport and space travel: Starship, Our ticket to Mars

por | Dic 17, 2022 | Información

Mankind has always dreamed of one day visiting the stars and living on other planets. Elon Musk, the creator of SpaceX aims to make the first colony on Mars and to make commercial space flights. For this, Starship, with its 5 000 000kg (with maximum payload) and with its 9 meters diameter and 119 meters height needs 6 raptor engines developed and created by SpaceX to be able to reach the low orbit of the earth and to be able to go beyond.

The Starship is a project with the objective of Mars Colonization, Earth-Moon Transport, Multiplanetary Transport, Intercontinental Transport, Reusable Launch System, Reusable Spacecraft, Space Tourism, among other things. The cost per launch is $2,000,000. The status of the project is under construction and is still a prototype but Elon Musk and SpaceX employees believe that the Starship will be able to colonize Mars in less than 20 years. So far there are 7 Starships and they are located at Starbase, Texas.

The Starship story begins in 2012 when news reports stated that SpaceX’s Raptor upper stage engine had begun development, in October of the same year Elon Musk publicly declared the development of a project to make a second reusable rocket system. In 2014 the media was able to see the initial flight test of a test vehicle with Raptor engines.

SpaceX hopes that Starship will reach Mars around 2025. Elon Musk posted a tweet saying that tickets to Mars would be between less than $500,000 and more than $100,000.
